Natural stone and large format tiling in Ilkeston and Derbyshire

Specialist tiling for marble, limestone, porcelain and large format tiles, carried out with careful preparation and attention to detail.

Specialist tiling done properly

Natural stone and large format tiles need more care than standard tiles. The weight, size and material all affect how they should be handled and installed. Getting the preparation right is key to achieving a clean, level finish that lasts.

I’m Callum Barker, a professional tiler based in Ilkeston, working across Derbyshire and the wider East Midlands. I regularly work with marble, limestone, quartz and large format porcelain tiles in kitchens, bathrooms and living spaces.

I was recognised as an Ultratiler by a leading manufacturer in the tiling industry, and I continue to keep my skills up to date through training and hands on experience.

Proper preparation is carried out before installation to help prevent movement and maintain a clean finish.

Precision matters

Large format tiles leave very little room for error. Subfloors must be level and surfaces prepared correctly to achieve a flat, consistent finish.

In some cases, moisture barriers such as epoxy damp proof membranes are required before tiling begins. I’ll assess this and explain clearly if it’s needed.

I take time to assess the space before installation and make any adjustments needed so the final result looks right and performs properly over time.

Hear From Our Happy Customers

We recently had Callum complete the installation of large format Italian porcelain floor tiles with colour matched grout in our kitchen and utility room, and the results are absolutely outstanding. The finish is superb and has genuinely transformed the space.

There were some challenges along the way, including a slight bowing in the tiles (completely outside of Callum’s control) and the need to work across two different subfloor types within the kitchen area. Callum handled everything brilliantly, installing an additional decoupling membrane to ensure the best possible result and long-term durability. His attention to detail throughout the entire project was exceptional.

Not only is Callum clearly a highly skilled craftsman, but he was also an absolute pleasure to have working in the house. He was always polite, tidy, considerate and thoroughly professional. We would recommend him without hesitation for any tiling work. Top-class workmanship and a real credit to his trade.
